The Reason You Feel Stuck (Hint: It's All In Your Head)

2 Mindset Shifts That Unlock Your True Potential

Most people don’t even understand what “Mindset” even is. How can you change something you don’t understand.

Most people with mindset training just say have a “Growth mindset!” but can’t explain how or go into greater detail.

Mindset is simply your thoughts, it’s the lens in which you view the world and the thoughts you have which then make up your perceived reality.

If in your mind you constantly look for the negative, you will find what you seek; negativity (confirmation bias) and then you will direct your attention away from the positive. (The positive that was once there, seems to slowly disappear)

Mindset shifts are basically rewiring your current ways of thinking to view the world with a different lens.

Our mindset is very habitual, once we begin thinking in a certain pattern; it’s almost impossible to counteract it without conscious effort.

Habitual thinking is so easy to fall into and it’s not even your fault; you were never taught about this concept in school. (Habitual thinking can either improve your life significantly or keep you spiralling downward, it’s all up to you to decide)

But here I am, doing the schools systems job. (Your welcome, haha)

Your current habitual thinking leaves you vulnerable and underrachieving. Your missing out on experiencing life to the fullest and your missing out on your true potential.

Now I’ll share two different ways in which you should view reality.

1. Become Biased to New Experiences

Have You Ever felt like your life is just… slipping past you?

You wake up, scroll a bit, go to work, hit the gym maybe; and suddenly it’s Friday again. Another week, gone. Nothing’s wrong, exactly. But nothing’s exciting either. Days start to blur together. You’re not crashing, but you’re not climbing either. Days blend into weeks, and you’re left wondering where all the time went. Somewhere deep down, a part of you knows… this isn’t how life’s supposed to feel.

It wasn’t always like this.

Remember being a kid? Every day felt like an adventure. You had feelings of wonder, excitement for life and there was always something to look forward to! Time moved slowly back then. Time didn’t just pass you by.

I remember when time felt like the opposite (It passed soo slowly!) Remember when you were in class, you kept looking at the clock and it just felt like time stood still (Fuck I hated that in hindsight). I remember being in math class saying to myself; Okay 30 minutes left, that’s just 3 different blocks of 10 minutes, all just to cope that extra little bit better.

All this to say that life (most of the time haha) used to feel like an adventure and you wouldn’t have days slip you by without having had anything happen.

So… what happened?

Here’s the truth: It’s not that life got boring. It’s that you stopped engaging with it.

Most people stay stuck in a loop; not because their lives are inherently dull, but because their thinking is stale. They’ve stopped being proactive. They’ve settled into patterns, routines, and limiting beliefs that trick them into thinking “this is just how life is now.”

But that’s not the truth.

The solution? Start doing new things. Regularly.

Seriously, your brain craves novelty. It’s wired for exploration, challenge, and growth. And when you stop feeding it those things, time begins to blur, and life starts feeling flat.

You don’t need to book a trip overseas to break the cycle. Just try something different. Pick up a hobby you’ve always been curious about. Take a new route home. Say “yes” to something spontaneous, even if it feels a bit outside your comfort zone. That’s the stuff that makes time feel rich again. That’s when moments start sticking, and life starts to feel like life again.

Whens the last time you tried a new hobby? Did a new activity? Went to somewhere new? Made up your own new adventure?

If the answers longer then a week, that’s your problem.

Here is one time I did this: On a random thursday I found a post about a community group taking a trip to Rottnest Island (common vacation spot in perth with lots of snorkelling, bike riding and cycling) in two days time (on the saturday).

Normally, I’d scroll past and keep doing nothing. But this time I said ”Screw it, I’m not doing anything.” Looked at the logistics of it, thought how I can make it work; looked doable and I smiled to myself thinking a “spontaneous adventure / day out, sounds like fun” I went. Met awesome people. Had a blast. Made a memory I’ll carry with me forever- instead of another Saturday wasted spent scrolling or gaming.

Here’s what happens when you live this way:

  • Life feels surreal again—rich, vivid, and exciting.

  • You wake up with something to look forward to.

  • You become more confident, interesting, and magnetic—your relationships, conversations, even dating life all improve.

  • You feel like you’re actually living again, not just existing.

And yeah, it’s scary at first. Especially if you’re introverted or stuck in your comfort zone. Not used to doing new things. But trust me: coasting through life doing the bare minmum is easy and dangerously comfortable.
What’s harder, but way more rewarding, is stepping out of that loop.

So here’s your action step:

ACTION - Try something new this week. Anything. Doesn’t matter what.
Do it just for the experience. For the story. For the possibility that it might teach you something or discover something you pursue seriously.

Who knows what could happen! You just have to start taking chances.

Struggling with ideas?

  • Google hobbies and try the first thing that sticks out to you

  • Try a new sport, dance class or martial art

  • Go do a community event, use meetup or facebook groups - find an activity you like and do it! Could be as simple as an archery class, snorkelling, a run club etc.

  • ANYTHING

If you want life to feel different, you have to start doing things differently.

And remember if you want something; YOU have to take hold of it yourself, no ones going to get things you want for you

The Stagnated Self

Picture your life in 10 years from now…

Now imagine it exactly the same as it is now. Same skills, same job, same hobbies, same relationships. Just you.. 10 years older. With less hair, some more wrinkles and possibly with more of a belly.

If your anything like me, that idea terrifies you

With age comes wisdom and a vast backlog of experiences. With my first point today, I’ve told you to experience new things each week.

Now comes wisdom

Imagine the main benefit of getting older - wisdom, and you just didn’t acquire any. Your the same level of “wiseness” as you were 10 years ago.

Again, terrifying prospect.

The Common View Of Learning

What’s your opinion on learning? I hope it’s different from the majority.

Once you’re done with the schooling system (primary school, high school then university) you never have to learn a thing again.

You might even have a negative relationship with learning, you might even hate learning because of several factors.

You were forced to learn random stuff for 12+ years of your life. Why should I ever have to pickup a damned book ever again?

You were made to feel dumb and constantly compared to your classmates, why would I want to feel like that again?

The way you were taught to learn wasn’t interesting or engaging at all, so now you just think “learning” is boring, monotonous and pointless.

This perspective holds you down in life, here’s a few reasons why.

  • School doesn’t teach you anything about life, if you aren’t proactive about learning. You will miss out on many opportunities.

    • Basic finance skills, Mental models, communication skills (making friends after school!), healthy habits and proper mental health just to name a few.

  • You will likely miss out on your genuine passion - You’re unlikely to find your calling at school so the only way you can find it is by exposing yourself to new experiences and learn new things.

  • Your passions are ever changing, 5 years down the line you have no idea what you’ll be interested in. To make use of this, you must continue learning.

  • You have to try new things, constantly learn and evolve to be satisfied; stagnation is up there as one of the worst feelings a human can experience.

TLDR; Missed opportunities and less overall life satisfaction

Increase Your Life Satisfaction

Personally I gain so much enjoyment and satisfaction when I look back on a year and realise how much I’ve grown and learnt.

In the year of 2024 I learnt a lot about:

  • Genuine Empathy

  • Basic Martial Arts (Boxing)

  • Online business

  • Human Psychology

  • Self awareness / introspection - the idea of consciousness / Belief systems

  • How to meal prep (basic cooking skills!)

  • Even how to talk to attractive girls without shitting myself (everythings a skill lol).

  • Positive ways of thinking

I’m not the same person I was this time last year. I’ve acquired wisdom and experience that me 1 year ago, didn’t have.

Think back on the times your most happy / proud of yourself. I can guarantee it will be either when you’ve learned something new or faced a discomfort of sorts and was victorious.

Now imagine continuing to learn and gaining experience on this level, for 10 years instead of 1. Imagine your character. What would your life look like? Who would you be?

Now if that doesn’t help you imagine the possibilities and make you excited for the future, I don’t know what will.

Adopt the “Forever Learner” Mindset

You must adopt the mindset / mantra of a “Forever learner”

You will stop learning only upon your death

You will endeavour to constantly learn, evolve and strive for success.

You will see failure as a stepping stone; you will learn from your failures and grow. Constructive instead of destructive.

You constantly seek out new information through books, courses, people, videos; anywhere! All with the goal of improving the quality of your life, health, relationships, mind and wealth.

Tldr: Keep learning, keep growing and keep levelling up; Your future self will absolutely adore you for it.

ACTION: Pick One Thing And Level It Up

  1. Pick one aspect of your life you want to improve. (Health, wealth, relationships, mindset)

  2. Learn how to improve that aspect (Read books, take courses or just google it!)

  3. Take immediate action and use what you’ve learned.

For example: This was me a few months ago; I wanted to improve my health, I learned about nasal breathing (I was always a mouth breather). I then understood what I needed to do and the habit I needed to build in order to achieve the outcome I wanted. So I went out and bought tape for my mouth, now before I sleep I tape my mouth shut and force myself to breathe through my nose. Learned and implemented.

Summary:

  • Life can feel like it easily passes you by, avoid this by experiencing new things!

  • Become a forever learner; don’t remain stagnant and have a life to look forward to!

You don’t need to change your whole life, just slowly build momentum.
New experiences spark it. Learning fuels it. Action keeps it alive.

So this week:
Try something new. Learn one thing. Do one thing that challenges you.

In 10 years, you’ll either thank yourself…
Or wish you’d started today.

Thanks for reading, I hope you’ve learned something new and can begin implementing right away!
